Nekaj mehkužcev iz eocenskega fliša Goriških brd / Selected molluscs from the Eocene flysch of Goriška brda, western Slovenia
Abstract

The article discusses and presents some selected mollusc fossils found in Goriška Brda. All were found in Eocene flysch in Vipolže and Dolnje Cerovo in western Slovenia, in immediate vicinity of the state border between Slovenia and Italy. The mollusc fossils are poorly preserved, the assemblage consists mostly of fragmented and severely corroded shells and cast fossils of gastropods and a few bivalves, some oysters shells are preserved as well. Until now 24 different species of gastropods were determined and seven forms of bivalves. The registered mollusc forms display strong similarity with sites in northern Italy, particularly those in Veneto and Friuli. We analysed some samples for nannoplankton and assigned them the boundary interval between biozones NP14/15 in the Lower Lutetian.
