Megalodonovi zobje iz miocenskih laporovcev Virštanja / Megalodon teeth from Miocene marlstone at Virštanj, Slovenia
Obravnavani so ostanki zob morskega psa vrste Megaselachus megalodon (Agassiz, 1835) iz srednjemiocenskih - badenijskih plasti najdišča Virštanj. To najdišče je dosedaj v Sloveniji najbogatejše z ostanki megalodonovih zob. V manjšem izkopu laporovca je najdenih 31 zob, 5 odlomljenih zobnih konic in 6 zobnih fragmentov ali lamel. Možno je, da vsi ostanki zob pripadajo istemu osebku.

Examined were shark tooth remains of species Megaselachus megalodon (Agassiz, 1835) from Middle Miocene – Badenian beds at Virštanj. This locality is at present the richest in remains of megalodon teeth. In a smalller outcrop of marlstone 31 teeth were found, 5 broken-off tooth tips and 6 tooth fragments or lamellae. All tooth remains belong to the same individual.
