FAGOPYRUM is open to everyone who is interested in buckwheat and will cover all aspects of buckwheat research: genetics, cytology, breeding, agronomy, nutrition, utilization, biochemistry, ethnobotany and others. FAGOPYRUM will accept manuscripts in English only, which meet the scientific requirements set by the Editorial Board and which have not been published elsewhere. Announcements concerning the promotion of research on buckwheat (workshops, symposium and so on), bibliographies and other information related to buckwheat will also be published.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles are made freely and permanently available on the journal’s website immediately upon publication, without any embargo period and without restrictions on access, use, or reuse, in accordance with the licence terms.

The journal does not charge authors any fees at any stage of the publishing process. Authors are not required to pay editorial fees or Article Processing Charges (APCs). The absence of APCs reflects the journal’s commitment to equitable, inclusive, and non-commercial scholarly publishing.

Fagopyrum has been published in open access since 2018 (i.e. volume 34) onwards.

To ensure long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of its digital content, the journal uses reliable archiving solutions. Digital copies of the journal are stored by the digital department of Slovenian national library NUK, dLib (Digital Library of Slovenia).

Indexing

The journal is indexed by the following bibliographic databases, which enhances its international visibility and citation impact:

Peer Review Process

Articles published in the journal undergo a peer review process, during which they are first reviewed by the editor-in-chief. If articles appear to be plagiarized, have been published elsewhere or are outside the scope of the journal, they may be rejected.

The articles are then sent to two peer reviewers for double-blind review, which minimizes the possibility of identifying either the author or the reviewer. For this purpose, the authors’ identifying information (name, institution) is removed from the manuscripts. Reviewers receive a digital version of the submission in which they directly enter their corrections and suggestions, which will facilitate revisions for the authors and support the editorial board in deciding on the suitability of the manuscript for publication. Reviewers should pay attention to whether the submission provides relevant content, is scientifically or professionally sound and falls within the journal’s thematic scope, complies with the journal’s publication guidelines, and follows the principles of open science.

Articles are rejected or accepted based on the editorial board’s and peer reviews' decison. The author is informed about a submission’s acceptance or rejection within approximately 1 to 3 months of its receipt. The editors are not required to explain the reasons for a submission’s rejection. The author is then given 15 days to revise the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ comments (with a possibility to request for a prolongation of this time). In the subsequent stage, the editor assesses whether the reviewers’ comments have been adequately addressed; the article is then technically edited and proceeds to layout.

The typology of the article is determined by the reviewers on the basis of the Document Typology of Documents/Works for Bibliography Management in COBISS.
